Previous 3 projects Abstract

  1. The project “A comparative study of OPACs in open source software” was prepared by H. P. Rajeswari under the guidance of Dr. N. S. Harinarayana in academic year of 2006-2007 for her fulfillment of the fourth semester examination. It project mainly explained the analysis of OPAC with various automation softwares. It is comparative study of the selected library automation softwares. She selected the 3 softwares. There are Koha, Open Biblio, and Emilda. She was collected the data about OPAC with comparative study of open source softwares and prepare the diagrams and charts. Lastly she gives a conclusion and references (Bibliography and URLs).


    Skills: 1. Usage of various library OPACs.
    2. She learned selected automation softwares and work with that particular software.
    3. It helps to her future career (when she became a librarian).
    4. She got searching methods in OPACs.

  2. The project “Internet usage of PG Students of University of Mysore” was prepared by Syed Mudassir, under the guidance of Dr. Shalini R. Urs in academic year of 2006-2007 for his fulfillment of the fourth semester examination. His project explained mainly the usage of Internet in University of Mysore. He has attempted to explain Internet usage specifically among PG students only. It is one of the survey of PG students using the Internet. It provides data and charts.

    Skills: 1. Improved his working capacity in field.
    2. Collecting the information from various persons.

  3. The project “Rastrakavi Kuvempu (1904-1994) in the eyes of the web 2.0” prepared by R. Ashoka, under the guidance Dr. M. Chandrashekar in academic year of 2006-2007 for his fulfillment of the fourth semester examination. It provides information about Rastrakavi Kuvempu in the web. He is a famous poet in Kannada Literature and he got the Gnanapita award his literary work. It mainly deals with his literary works (poems, novels, and his speech’s) and overview of his life on the web 2.0.

Skills: 1.He known about Kuvempu’s work.
2.Improved Internet his searching.

Sidde Gowda, I appreciate your concern to improve. You have prepared a good report. It is evident that you have paid attention to get the draft corrected by someone. Keep up this good habit. Eventually you yourself will be in a position to write with out anybody's help.

In Rajeswari's work you are specific in idetifying the skill the author would have got. But in the other two projects, you are bit general.
